MailPuck Mac, a T3R product

The quietest hour
in your working day.

Email takes more than time. It takes decisions, context switches, and the focus your real work requires. MailPuck prepares considered drafts for the messages that need an answer, so your day starts with your mind clear.

Every draft waits for your approval. Nothing is ever sent without you.

Email is not administrative.
It is cognitive.

Writing a short reply requires far more than typing. You recall past conversations, gauge tone, protect relationships, clarify commitments, and decide what to leave unsaid. Six steps happen before a single word is typed, whether the message takes ten seconds or ten minutes, and that hidden effort accumulates, message after message.

This isn't inconvenience.
It's a compounding cost.

Three separate bodies of research point to the same conclusion: email is quietly taking more from you than the minutes on the clock.

What the research actually shows.

None of this is guesswork. Each point below comes from a specific, citable study.

Your sharpest decisions run out before your day does

A widely cited 2011 study of Israeli parole judges found favourable rulings fell from about 65% early in a session to nearly zero right before a break, then reset after it. Researchers call this decision fatigue: the more choices a mind makes, the more it defaults to the easiest option. The exact mechanism is still debated, but the wider pattern, that judgement quality is not constant across a workload, has held up in studies of forecasters and chess players since. Every email reply is a small decision. Clear them first thing, and it's your sharpest hours that pay for it. Leave them for last, and it's whatever's left of you in the evening that does.

Danziger, Levav & Avnaim-Pesso, PNAS, 2011

It isn't five minutes, it's a full day every week

The McKinsey Global Institute found that people in communication-heavy roles spend around 28% of the working week, roughly 11 hours, reading and answering email. That's more than one entire working day, every single week, spent inside the inbox alone.

McKinsey Global Institute, The Social Economy, 2012

One glance can cost you 23 minutes

Research by Gloria Mark at UC Irvine found it takes an average of 23 minutes and 15 seconds to fully return to a task after an interruption, and email is consistently among the most common sources of that interruption at work. For the kind of original, high-quality thinking creative and technical work depends on, a single notification can cost far more than the moment it took to read it.

Gloria Mark, University of California, Irvine

None of that has to be true.

If the reply is already written, there is no decision left to make, no half hour lost hunting for the right words, and no deep work to interrupt. Just a glance, a small edit if you want one, and a click, all in the time it takes to finish a glass of water.

Draft review, Apple's native mailing app
Ready for review
MailPuck prepared draft
Context: governance, courteous and direct
Never auto-sent

Prepared, considered, controlled.

Three ideas govern everything MailPuck does with your inbox.

Prepared, not automatic

The work begins before your review, never before it. Nothing leaves your computer without deliberate approval.

Considered, not generic

Each draft reflects context, relationship, and purpose, avoiding the hollow phrasing common to standard AI writing tools.

Controlled, not careless

Built for professionals who handle sensitive correspondence. If a message needs no response, MailPuck stays silent.

Your voice, not a generic one.

From the very first draft, MailPuck writes the way you do, and it's built to get closer to you the longer you use it.

Today, and what's next.

One of these is live in the app right now. The other is real work in progress, not a promise dressed up as a feature.

From day one Available now

During setup, you shape the voice directly: tone, formality, phrases to always avoid, even a few real emails you've actually written. Drafts sound like you, not a template, from the very first one.

Learning as you go In development

A deeper layer, currently being built, will let MailPuck learn from the edits you make and the emails you send yourself, refining its sense of your voice over time, always with your approval, never silently.

Built for review,
not blind delegation.

MailPuck helps you review communication with intention. It does not send on your behalf. The final decision stays visible, editable, and yours.

Security and integrity.

Four commitments, stated plainly rather than badged.

Draft-only architecture

MailPuck writes standard native drafts inside Apple's native mailing app. It has no code, interface, or permission to send email.

Zero autonomous outbound communication

Bring your own key (BYOK)

Draft requests go directly to your personal AI provider account using your own key, a personal access code you create yourself in about two minutes. Your data stays governed by your direct provider agreement, never MailPuck's.

Direct client to API architecture

Local desktop execution

MailPuck runs as a lightweight Mac menu bar app. No intermediary cloud server stores or indexes your mailbox threads.

Local device data containment

Verifiable operational standards

We do not publish unverified badges or fabricated partnerships. We publish our exact architecture so technical teams can inspect it.

Transparent economics.

We believe in giving you back your time from email without adding the financial pressure of another expensive subscription app. What you pay covers MailPuck's own upkeep and continued development, nothing else. Your AI usage stays with your own provider account, at its own cost, always.
